Advisor Jacqueline Kates
Jacqueline Kates, former Mayor of the Township of Teaneck, served as a member of the Teaneck Township Council for twelve years and as a Trustee of the Teaneck Board of Education for ten years, including two terms as Board President. Recently retired as Community Relations Coordinator at Holy Name Medical Center, she was also Counsel to the President of Fairleigh Dickinson University for Community Affairs, Legislative Aide to New Jersey Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle, District 37, and a Community Relations Specialist with the Bergen County Department of Human Services.
Jackie chaired the New Jersey Human Relations Council, an advisory body to the Governor and Legislature, as well as the Bergen County Human Relations Commission, and the Jewish Community Relations Council of UJA Federation. She was a member of the Bergen County Ethics Committee and currently serves as an appointed member of the Fort Lee Historic Preservation Commission.
Among other awards, she has been recognized for community service by the National Council of Jewish Women with the Hannah G. Solomon Award and the Township of Teaneck Matthew Feldman Community Relations Award, and with her husband attorney Michael B. Kates has been honored by Jewish Family Service, the Anti-Defamation League, Bergen County Friends of Lubavitch, Boys Town Jerusalem, Jewish National Fund, State of Israel Bonds, Teaneck B’nai B’rith and the Teaneck Political Assembly.
She and her husband are both graduates of Teaneck High School, as are her son, daughter and son-in-law. They are the loving grandparents of an adult granddaughter.
