New Online Application Can Assist Seniors and the Disabled in Applying for Assistance

     The New Jersey Division of Aging Services in November launched NJSave, a new online application to help older and disabled residents with low-incomes save money on Medicare premiums, prescription costs, and other living expenses.

This online application can be used to determine eligibility and enroll  in the following programs:

• Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled (PAAD)
• Hearing Aid Assistance to the Aged and Disabled (HAAAD)
• Lifeline Utility Assistance
• Medicare Savings Programs
• Medicare Part D’s Low Income Subsidy (LIS, also known as “Extra Help”)
• Senior Gold Prescription Discount Program

The application is also used to screen individuals for numerous savings and assistance programs. These programs include:

•  Universal Service Fund (USF)
• Low-Income Heating and Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
• Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

The paper version of the application will remain in use and is available by calling the Division of Aging Services at 1-800-792-9745.
